About Barr Camp & FAQs

Barr Camp is located 6.5 miles up Barr Trail. Although there are three different routes you can take to get here, the only way to visit it to hike. There are no roads nearby and the Cog Railway does not stop anywhere along the peak.

Our reservations close 48 hours before the date of availability. If you are looking to book a date in our peak season (June-September), we recommend booking 3+ months in advance.

Yes! We accept all forms of payment at camp.

We do have a reliable creek that runs inside camp. We do not have the ability to provide hikers with filtered water, but we do have a water filter you can rent for $5 while at camp.

We do have a couple options for storing gear at camp.

You are welcome to leave your gear as is if you are staying a second night.

If hiking back down, you can store your packed-up gear in a designated spot or in your tent while you go to the summit. Please ask your caretakers where to leave it so it is out of the way for the next guests.

If you fail to return for your gear, we are unable to pack it up and send it to you. Please plan to return to camp to pick it up as soon as you are able.

Unfortunately, we are only able to heat our main cabin where the caretakers live. ALL other accommodations are not able to be heated. If coming in fall-spring time, please be sure you have properly rated gear for below freezing temperatures.

Our electricity source is VERY limited, and unfortunately, we are unable to provide electricity to the public. Plan on a backup battery for charging your devices.
